Carmen Pena - Associate Teacher
Ms. Carmen was born in Mexico and moved to the United States during elementary school. She was educated in Carpinteria, and began working with children at an early age. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Santa Barbara City College, and then was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies from California state Channel Islands in May 2016.
Ms. Carmen has worked in a variety of childhood education settings during her field work for both degrees. What she loves about working with children is that “you learn something new every day about the children and about yourself. Children are always engaged and eager to share their stories and their smiles. You don’t get that in other professions.”
At Cathedral Oaks Preschool, Ms. Carmen appreciates “the beautiful school environment including the outdoor classrooms, the philosophy, and the friendly and caring staff members.”
